Trip to WI, day 4

Day 4 of our trip was a Sunday so we got dressed and went to Grandma's church as our first activity of the day. She's pretty involved there, the congregation is pretty small (there were literally 24 people in the service that morning, including Seth, Grandma and me!), and she was excited to introduce us to all her friends. And since we were all dressed, we decided to try to get some family pictures first.

Grandma's not looking at the camera, but I like the look she has on her face. (I think she's watching Austin run around like a crazy person.)

4 generations... sans my dad who wasn't in town

After church, we went to the golf course by her house for lunch. (Mill Ridge? Mill Run? I can't keep them straight. I just know it's where all the bridesmaids dresses caught on fire in my ex-best friend Cathy's wedding. All of us, burned dresses. anyways...) It sits up on a hill and has fabulous views!

This is the kind of view I miss living in Texas.

And while the customer service was absolutely horrible, the food was ok, priced right and we had a good time. It was really the first time we'd had a chance to chat with my Grandma because all the rest of the time we'd been with her so far was spent packing/unpacking, feeding/dressing/changing/cleaning the boys, or sleeping. I'm telling you, traveling with these two little ones sure makes for complicatedness!

After lunch we went back to her house, put the boys down for naps, and then Seth and I got busy packing to head up north (as if we weren't already north enough?!?) to see my parents.

Graham passed out ON TOP OF the Glowworm.

And he stayed asleep even as I moved it out from under him.

We headed out from Eau Claire about 4pm and made it to Gordon just in time for dinner. I forgot to take any pictures of the rest of the evening, but we got to eat brats and sweet corn outside until the rain came and brought the mosquitos with it! At that point it was time to once again load up and head to my aunt's cabin where we slept the next two nights. Her cabin is about 25 minutes away from Mom and Dad's cabin (which is simply not big enough for the four of us plus the two of them), and it was just enough time for my gas light to come on (in the middle of NOWHERE). We made it, unloaded the car (again) and got the boys ready for bed.

Gordon is about 2 hours north of Eau Claire.
Incidentally, Colfax (my actual hometown) is too small to be shown on this map, but is near the "C" of Chippewa Falls.

That process takes about an hour and a half, so it was about 9:30 at night by the time we got them settled and then Mom and Dad left to go home. We stayed up for several hours talking with my Aunt Mary, though, and it was awesome. It's so great to get together with my family as an adult. There are so many unanswered questions and pieces of memories that it's really nice to have them fill in some of the blanks about stuff.
