Cute Pic Post -- March 2013

The biggest thing we noticed with Austin in March was his ability to put two words (and sometimes even three words!) together as a sentence. Suddenly he was all "Daddy home," "more please," "Georgia house," etc. It. Was. Awesome. This was the biggest thing he "failed" at during his assessment in December (he should have been doing these closer to his 2nd birthday) and they told us he'd need to pick that up by spring or get re-assessed (and would likely fail to the point of needing services). So when he just started talking like this, it was like a dream come true. Yay Austin!

The middle of March brought the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Austin left the backyard while I was busy with Graham and it took several frantic minutes to find him out on the sidewalk, being walked home by some stranger with a backpack on. He'd apparently decided to go check out the park and was about to cross the street when this angel-in-man-form found him. Praise God for miracles! When I got to him, he came running up asking "where's Daddy?" The back gate now has a lock on it.

Graham's big accomplishments are really just extensions of the stuff from last month. He's rolling like crazy, and seems to enjoy being on his belly a bit more than Austin did. Austin would flop right back over if we laid him on his tummy and so it was no wonder that he didn't start crawling until 9.5 months (and walked 2 months later). Graham is already making attempts at crawling (he moves his arms and legs, almost like he's swimming) since he'll flip to his tummy and stay there awhile.

The brothers seem to really genuinely enjoy each other. Graham loves to watch Austin playing/running around, and Austin is always asking to hug and kiss "baby!" He's such a sweet big brother; I'm praying he stays that way more often than not. It's evident that Austin wants Graham to play with him--he'll ask him to catch a ball, clap his hands, etc. and will force the issue, but never too strongly. Austin continues to be loving and gentle with his baby brother, but I see wrestle matches in our future! (And I can't wait!)

Here are a few fun photos from March:
I know it's dark, but it was such a great smile.
He loves the outfit Grandma LaPean gave him! (Can someone show her this please?)
Putting the helmet to use. Sadly, he's still too short for the trike.
Um, yeah. I don't know how he gets up there so easily.

First time swinging on the big boy swing!
He loves putting on sunglasses!
All the captions I can think of for this picture are a little inappropriate. But I still think the picture is cute.
Two Future Aggie Mans.
Austin LOVES helping his Daddy. Here, they wash windows together.
I like how the giraffe ended up on top of him. (And this picture makes me very glad for breathable bumpers.)
We spent a sick day watching movies.
The Ultimate Cheese Face while playing in a tree at the Y.
I love sweet moments like this.
Love my boy in some good old WI/LaPean attire.
He's conserving space. Or something. lol
How cute can you get!?
This just cracks me up! He loves having the big seat belt "on"--he just hangs onto it with his arm. And he's fallen asleep while playing with his hair and his hand got caught up on his ear. TOO funny!
I sent this to Seth with "Side Sleeper like his Momma" as the caption.
Seth replied "Cute like his Momma too." :-)
Don't you just want to squeeze these rolls!? LOVE them!
Some friends gave us this Aggie jersey. Austin LOVED it from the first moment he saw it and it fit perfectly! Thanks Childresses!!
(That's a smile behind the cup.)

  1. Love. Love. Love. Your sweet boys are just growing up so fast. I'm reading Wild at Heart right now, so when you talk about the boys playing and helping Daddy...it brings on a whole new meaning and makes my heart smile! Precious family! Good job momma :)

    1. I'm so glad you mentioned Wild at Heart! I keep meaning to read it because I feel like I'm living an example of the sticks and mud and rough and tumble. He's happiest when tackling a football. Or wrestling Daddy. Or playing ball. Or dancing. Or using sticks as swords. He's. So. Active.
Jessica, you are too sweet with the compliments. I lost him, remember? Just praying God keeps me on my toes and that He continues to give me grace. I sure need it! (But I do feel proud when I take him places and everyone says they are low maintenance and well behaved boys. That's very important to me.)

  2. I see 'playing sick' in Austin's future . . . he looks quite enthralled with whatever he's watching. Great pics of those two adorable grandsons of mine! Kim

    1. It's funny because though he does enjoy a movie and asks to watch them, he doesn't last very long into them before he's off and running again. Even when sick. He's definitely ALL BOY.
