On a cold, crisp December day, we had our trees trimmed. It is really something, watching those guys climb the trees like monkeys. Really quite amazing! We're not sure how often you have to have this done, but hopefully not more than like every 5 years, right?

I have never heard of tree trimming other than the process one goes through in decorating a Christmas tree! So.. I looked it up, and based on my (limited) research, it sounds like mature trees really only need to be trimmed if there are dead/diseased branches, unless you are trying to maintain a particular shape. Looks like Austin had a fun time with this!
ReplyDeleteWe did it partially because of things like mistletoe, growth into power lines, too near the house in places Seth couldn't get to, etc. Plus, it's supposedly healthy for the tree to not have "suckers" on them--little ones that cause more damage than good. Perhaps that's a thing here in Texas where the rain level won't support a full size tree left to its own devices. I'm not sure... But anyways, that's $800 I'd like to not have to spend anytime soon.
